On October 19th at 7:00 p.m., HMLP’s HVAC partner, Abode Energy Management,
a webinar on heat pumps. Please note the following URL …

In Hingham, we share the goal set at the 2021 Town Meeting to achieve net zero carbon emissions
-Emissions in the city by 2040. As predominantly living enclave, heating, ventilation and air conditioning
(aka HVAC) is our biggest challenge. The Hingham municipal lighting plant has about 10,000 accounts,
and most of these households and businesses are currently burning fossil fuels for heat. Regardless of whether
As much as we are concerned about climate change, few of us can afford to shut down oil and gas-fired ovens
that work well and have a useful life of years. But how old is your system? Are you happy
in order to? Are you suffering from fluctuations in the price of oil or gas? Does it fail at the most inopportune times? Is it
likely that you’ll need to replace or refurbish it in the next few years? Would you like central air conditioning with
Ways to use the same system for carbon-free heating later? Now is the time to start planning
orderly transition to a new, green technology that puts you on the zero-emission side of the
Ledger, where we all have to be at some point.

Air-to-water heat pumps that use HMLP’s increasingly green electricity are the way to go. Heat pumps are
a modern, efficient, all-electric HVAC solution that provides both heating and cooling in one
Single system. This is a proven, extremely affordable technology. Forget what you’ve heard about heat
Pumps that are ineffective in our New England climate – this is now an urban legend. Advanced models
were tested in Vermont at thirteen degrees below zero (the coldest day they could plan!) and
they worked efficiently and effectively. My wife and I are in our seventies and we enjoyed it
precisely controlled heating, cooling and dehumidifying in our farmhouse from 1880 since our installation
Heat pump system in 2018. What an enormous gain in comfort compared to our old one
Steam system and window air conditioners! Each room is a separate zone that is controlled by its own
programmable remote control. The indoor units have dust filters so that the air you breathe is cleaner.

But you don’t have to take my word for it. HMLP has partnered with Abode Energy Management to
support you in evaluating these systems. Abode can connect you with a good one
