Visy to invest $70 million in South Australian furnace rebuild

Visy will invest over $ 70 million in an oven remodel in South Australia over the next 12 months.

The investment will be part of a recent $ 2 billion commitment from Visy Executive Chairman Anthony Pratt to Australian manufacturing.

The $ 70 million investment will completely rebuild Visy’s West Croydon-based glass furnace and ensure that glass bottles can be manufactured in South Australia in the years to come.

Visy will also invest in three new glass forming machines that will be used to shape glass bottles for our customers.

Visy’s glass factory in West Croydon employs around 160 people and the investment is intended to safeguard these jobs over the long term.

Visy has also committed to increasing the average glass content in its glass factories from 30 to 70 percent.

Visy hopes that this will keep more glass in the circular economy, reduce landfills and create green jobs for restoration.
