OFTEC recommends oil heated households in Cumbria to get boiler serviced

Oil-fired households in Cumbria have been reminded to have their boiler serviced.

When the weather warms up, oil-fired homes in Cumbria are reminded to book their boiler for regular service to avoid higher fuel bills and costly repairs later in the year.

It’s easy to forget in the summer months when the heating isn’t in use, but it’s the perfect time to get it done. As with all types of systems, failure to maintain an oil boiler can cause a number of problems that can lead to expensive emergency calls and premature outages in winter.

By maintaining regular boiler maintenance, local households can extend the life of their heating system and potentially benefit from lower energy costs.

OFTEC, a registration office for off-gas network heating, recommends households to have all heating devices and appliances serviced by an OFTEC-registered technician at least once a year.

During annual maintenance, a technician cleans and inspects the boiler, replaces any faulty components and checks for leaking smoke gases, which can contain dangerous carbon monoxide.
