New Energy Equity has completed a 7 MW system with National Energy Development in the Village of Depew, NY land on the waste management system. The clean solar energy can be used by local businesses, schools and communities to reduce their energy costs.

“New Energy Equity is excited to bring the Broadway solar project to life as it not only provides clean energy for the Depew community but also benefits land that would otherwise have very limited uses,” said the president of New Energy, Co-Founder and CEO, Matt Hankey. “We are very pleased about the partnership with National Energy Development and look forward to a successful cooperation.”

NED, headquartered locally in the village of Depew, bought part of the landfill from the village and organized improvements to the site to ensure it was prepared for the construction of the solar project. With these improvements, New Energy and NED were able to begin developing the solar energy system.

“The Broadway Solar Farm is really a win-win for everyone involved,” said Jim Bodecker and Paul Vargovich, co-owners of NED. “We are proud to have this opportunity to refurbish the Depew Village landfill while creating a renewable energy source for our community.”

For the past two years, New Energy and NED have worked closely with Depew Mayor Kevin Peterson, Attorney Sam Alba and Dave Britton of GHD, the village’s engineering firm, on the Broadway solar farm project.

“By partnering with Depew-based National Energy Development, the Village of Depew will be able to turn a barren, useless piece of village property into a viable, clean, electricity-producing solar farm,” said Mayor Kevin Peterson. “The village will be preserved 20 acres along a beautiful stretch of Cayuga Creek that could one day become a wildlife sanctuary similar to Tifft Farm in Buffalo.”

We have a ton of video interviews and additional content on our YouTube page. We recently made our debut Go on! – A collaboration with BayWa re to discuss overarching industry topics as well as best practices / trends for today’s management of a solar company.

Our longer running side project is The pitch – in which we have unpleasant discussions with solar manufacturers and suppliers about their new technologies and ideas so that you don’t have to. We discussed everything from rail-less deck mounting for residential buildings and solar home finance to large-scale energy storage and energy-powered new solar and storage microgrids for the home.

We’ll also publish our project of the year announcements there! Interviews with this year’s winners will follow from the week of November 8th. Visit us and subscribe today to keep up to date on all of these additional things.
