Montgomery County Home Heat Help Available

POTTSTOWN PA – Montgomery County families who believe they may have difficulty paying home heating bills this coming winter can now apply for assistance from the state’s low-income household energy aid program at the Pottstown and Norristown offices.

The federally funded program helps individuals and families pay for their heating bills by providing grants for home heating energy. It also provides crisis aid to help out in emergencies or when a resident is at risk of losing their heat due to defective equipment, lack of fuel or the shutdown of utilities.

Income Eligibility Guidelines apply. For example, in a household of four, the maximum income limit is $ 39,750. A maximum of $ 1,500 is available per household. Program funds are paid directly to a household’s utility or heating oil supplier for the home. The grant amounts granted this year are higher than in previous years due to the additional funding provided by the American Federal Rescue Plan Act.

Applications to participate in the program are to be received at the County Assistance Offices at Pottstown, 24 Robinson St.; and in Norristown, 1931 New Hope St. Applications can also be submitted online here. The program runs until May 6th (2022).
