Honeywell Loses Ground In Furnace Ignition Patent Suit

Law360 (Aug 10, 2021, 7:22 p.m. EDT) – ICM Controls Corp. won a lawsuit alleging Honeywell International Inc. infringed a patent on a gas-fired ignition system after a New York federal judge shot down an offer to invalidate the patent.

US District Judge Lawrence E. Kahn on Monday accepted ICM’s partial summary judgment on various allegations and defenses brought by Honeywell and co-defendant Resideo Technologies Inc. – which Honeywell has spun off – in ICM’s patent lawsuit.

Honeywell attempted to claim that the patent was not even valid, arguing that court documents indicated that it was obvious and anticipated from the prior art.
