Aerona³ heat pump helps Colchester Football Club go green – Builders Merchants Journal
Colchester Football Club was a vaccination center during the pandemic, and when a new heating system was required for the vaccination area, a Grant Aerona³ air source heat pump was installed to keep the vital resource at temperature.
Local G1 installers, Blueflame Colchester, were asked to find and install a suitable and sustainable heating system for the club’s vaccination center.
James Mealing, director of Blueflame Colchester, said: “Colchester Football Club tries to be as green as possible.”
“The hall did not previously have its own heating system, so it made sense to install a completely new heating system in this area, independent of the rest of the stadium, that would meet the temperature requirements of the NHS and at the same time be as environmentally friendly and efficient as possible.”
“We also had a custom head and decoupler made to set the correct flow rates and amounts of water within the system.”
A renewable system with an Aerona³ 17kW air source heat pump was designed and installed. In this installation, the heat pump was set up to only heat, in conjunction with new radiators to ensure that the hall is kept at the desired temperature.
The 17kW Aerona³ is a double fan heat pump and the largest model in Grant’s air-to-water heat pump range. It has an ErP rating of A +++ and is highly efficient, making it ideally suited to the heating needs of the pass-through vaccination area. Because the unit was installed by a G1 air-to-water heat pump installer, the club’s new Aerona³ heat pump also comes with a seven-year guarantee.
Mealing added, “Blueflame has continued to choose Grant heat pumps for their ease of installation, reliability and high SCOPs.”
“The Aerona³ heat pump installed in the club works perfectly and we are really impressed with the end product.”
“It was great for Blueflame to not only support efforts against climate change by installing a renewable heating system, but also to support the NHS and the fight against Covid. Partnering with Grant products on this project will ensure that the system is not only as efficient as possible, but also reliable. “
